ABOUT USL2
Black Rock FC participates in the USL League Two (USL2), an amateur league that is regarded as the primary pathway to professional football in the USA. Black Rock FC’s USL League Two team is made up of the club's top collegiate players who attend some of the nations best colleges and universities. The student-athletes selected to play on this team are not only outstanding players but also dedicated students, leaders, and community members.
Since 2018 Black Rock has won the Northeast Division and automatically qualified for the 2019 Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup - a tournament open to all professional and amateur teams affiliated with U.S. Soccer. Since that time many of our players have received national recognition and a total of 10 players have signed professional contracts.
OUR MODEL
Every summer we provide a residential living experience for our players, an uncommon practice amongst USL2 teams. The residential living experience is the cornerstone of the Black Rock FC USL2 program, as it allows for the development of a family-like atmosphere and fosters a stronger sense of unity. This model enables our coaches to mentor and shape the holistic development of our players on and off the field with intentional programming. By living full-time in the area our team is also able to meaningfully connect and engage with the local community by hosting free soccer clinics and participate in community service, and other events. Student-athletes are allow afforded opportunities to pursue internships or summer employment.
GIVING BACK
Through the generosity of our Black Rock FC USL League Two team sponsors we have provided free youth clinics to kids in surrounding communities. Our coaches and players lead age appropriate skill based exercises, small sided games, and competitions, in a fun environment. The opportunity to interact with student-athletes competing at the highest level of college soccer has been a memorable experience for everyone involved.
